Renaissance

(Please enjoy this blogpost while we are enjoying Orlando!)
At Jackson's school, they have a program to encourage kids to always do better than they have before. For instance, if a child received a C in science for first quarter and then gets a B the second quarter, they are considered a Renaissance student.

They hold a big pep rally to get the kids excited about improving themselves.
I really like the idea of this, as we know not all students are going to get A's all of the time. This encourages them to always try to push themselves to be the best they can be!

So, for the first pep rally, the theme was A-team.
All of the students, teachers, and parents wore sports uniforms to school!

The whole school (K-5) walked out to the bus ramp to a local radio station playing music and everyone dancing.

Then, these guys were introduced.
Willie doesn't have an A's uniform yet so he wore his most recent one.
Brian played for many years and is now a coach within the Royals organization.
Brad played for many years as well and his kids attend the same school.

Jackson was SO excited to see us all at school. I think this may have been the first time he realized that having a baseball playing dad was pretty cool.
There were so many times that he looked so proud with his classmates!

Brian gave an impromptu speech that was really great, encouraging the kids to make good choices and work hard to achieve their dreams.
Then, there were High 5's all around!

This really made me happy with Jackson's school. As a parent, you never know what is the best choice for your children's education. It is so vital in who they become in this life. I want Jackson to have the best chance to succeed and I feel so good about this school!
