Willie's Adventure

Willie is home!
But, I'd like to tell you how his travel day Saturday went...

Friday night they had a game in New Orleans.
By the time he got back to the hotel it was 11:30-12.
He packed up his bags and decided against going to sleep.

They had a 4:00 a.m. bus to the airport and I think he was worried that he would miss it.

So, he gets to the airport and gets on the airplane.
He calls me to tell me they are boarding and then gets on and immediately falls asleep.

Around 8 a.m., they were due to land in Dallas. Awhile after, I hadn't heard from him and his phone was going straight to voicemail. I became concerned and texted some of the ladies.

It turns out, they were sitting on the plane {without air conditioning} for two and a half hours. They were supposed to be leaving on their connecting flight when they took off from New Orleans.

Now...why didn't I hear from Willie?
He was ASLEEP.
He had no idea they hadn't left yet.

{Meanwhile, back at home, I had to explain to two little boys that daddy wasn't going to be home as soon as we had expected. That was not so much fun.}

So, they land in Dallas when they are supposed to land in OKC.
Willie calls and before he can even tell me, I say:

"Yay! You're here! We're holding our signs! Look for us!"

He says: "Um, hon...we just landed in Dallas."

I say: "Yeah, I know. I'm just kidding. We're getting haircuts."

Anyhow, they then had to try to get an entire team on flights back up here.

Willie arrived at 3:30.
We were there with signs!
And we brought him straight to the field for the game.
Travel in the minor leagues is certainly not the same as the chartered flights in the bigs.

But we sure are happy to have him home for a bit.
