In The Star-Telegram:
By JEFF WILSON and ANTHONY ANDRO
Growing up in Utah, Texas Rangers reliever Willie Eyre was in the middle of the pack as far as his siblings go. There were five Eyre children, four boys and a girl, and then there was Mom.
The range from oldest to youngest is eight years. All four boys played baseball, and Eyre’s sister played softball. One thing they could each count on was that their mother, Peggy, would be at every game.
"My mom never missed one little league baseball game, and she raised five kids by herself," Eyre said. "From when I was in T-ball until when I was in high school, she made every game.
"From working, to raising kids, she was amazing. She ran the snack bars at the field and stuff. It was really pretty cool."
